Thursday, June 24th

Today was a traveling day---our goal? New York.

We got up early again and had the free hotel breakfast. As we left (9 AM), Bob noticed a Cato right across the street (;-() It was too early to shop so we left.

When Bob stopped for gas (2.54 in North Carolina) we saw a Cato and I promised that this would be my last Cato stop on the trip. What fun! More tops, pants.

Then we went from North Carolina to Virginia to Maryland to Delaware to Pennsylvania to New Jersey to Long Island where we are (with our precious and beautiful daugher, Bryn). It was a long day because as soon as we hit New Jersey, the stress began and continued into New York all the way to Long Island. Traffic was horrible; people were rude and the drivers were very aggressive. We were cut off, not allowed into a lane if we had to make a turn, beeped at for going to slow--wow---because we drove through so many states, the change was obvious and horrible. I could not believe the rudeness of the drivers. We also were in two huge gridlocks and on the Belt, it took 45 minutes to go three miles. UGH! Welcome to New York!

We tried as hard as we could not to eat in any chain restaurants the whole trip and we succeeded, kind of. When we landed in New York, we stopped at a rest area that had Nathan's hot dogs and we had not eaten.

When we got to Bryn's, she had set up an antipasto for us with fruit, cheese, salami, capicola, Italian bread, olives. It was perfect as we did not feel up to going out or having a big meal. It was so wonderful to see our beautiful daughter and have a place to flop for more than one night. We'll be here until Monday morning (then we're on our way to Albany to see my family) and have precious little time with our girl as she is going to the Mets vs. Yankees game today, a No Doubt concert tomorrow, and a shower on Sunday. We have plenty to do during that time, however, and can't wait to see Bob's sisters and mother.
